Need a passport for Jamaica?

Does anyone know offhand if you need a passport to go to Jamaica? What if you go on a cruise? What about a plane?

  • yes..the passport card is acceptable in certain territories if by boat....but why not pay the extra bucks..take the time and get a passport, never know when that trip to europe is totally cheaper than you thought! saves time later!

  • If you go anywhere outside of a US territory (regardless of whether it is a boat/plane/car) you now have to have a passport.

  • we didn't need one to go on our cruise although the current laws could of changed. my husband doesn't have one and we went to jamaica for our honeymoon. i would check with the cruise line and airports. i'm pretty sure you will with an airline.

  • I have gone to Jamaica twice since 2007 and both times I've had to have a passport. They check it 5 total times between here and there.

Also, if you have to have it quickly, you can go to a passport office and pay a little more for expedition and have it in 2 weeks. :)

    Good luck, Jamaica is fabulous!!
