from a BTDT woman.... Yes being hit is really bad, but the physiological abuse is just as bad and stays with you LONG after the bruises heal! Its especially bad when your abuser also verbally abuses and threatens your kids.

  • Domestic violence can be breaking things, throwing things, pushing, slapping, hitting, etc. If you DH or SO kicks down a door, smashes the TV, throws stuff at you, pushes you, blocks you from leaving the house, or spits on you, he or she is behaving violently. He or she doesn't have to hit you with a closed fist for it to be domestic violence.

If you feel in any way threatened, you are in a violent relationship.

  • Veronica I totally agree with you...sorry. Emotional abuse, stalking, threatening, name calling & put downs, stalking, sexual assualt and intimidation are also forms of Domestic violence.

  • It's also emotional. When someone breaks you down and controls you emotionally with name calling and or threats.
