  • Sitting up is often not until 6 months. My second daughter hated even trying and then at about 7 months she could all the sudden do it almost perfectly. Don't worry. At 5 months... rolling (though not all babies do), pushing herself up with her arms when on her tummy... Kids are all so different, though, I'm sure soon we'll hear from someone whose baby was crawling at 5 months! Don't worry, she's doing great.. she's not even 5 months yet!

  • yes its normal, will she sit up supported, if you prop her in the corner of the coach? try, it has week by week developement charts to show what babies should be doing. but remember all babies develop at different rates. My son is almost 8 months now and sits up on his own, but at 5 months he only sat supported. it take a while for them to gain the muscle control to be able to do stuff like that. just be patient. she will sit up when shes ready.

  • Didn't your pediatrician give you milestone sheets at your last appointment. You should get them every time and they should tell you what your baby should currently be doing and what they should start doing in the near future. Call your pediatrician and ask them to mail you something. You also might want to take the book "What to Expect the First Year" out of the library.

  • Yes, it's normal. Mine refused until the day before she started to crawl - 2 days after she turned 6 months old.

  • NO it is not normal so all you have to do is try to teacher and see what she do then if that don't work take her to the doctor to get her checked out.

  • I'm sorry but YES it is normal for a baby not to be sitting alone yet -- she's not even 5 months old yet! Sitting unassisted is currently considered a 6 month milestone, but all of these should be taken with a grain of salt. Your pediatrician may not have given you a sheet because s/he doesn't want you to obsess about milestones, which a lot of mothers tend to do. My pedi doesn't give these for that reason. Goodness, no need to take her to the doc!
