At what age do most babies drop down to one nap a day?

My son goes down just fine for his first nap, typically two hours after waking up in the morning. However, he resists or even skips his second nap a lot lately. I am worried that he may be dropping down to one nap per day.

  • Between 12- 18 mths was the norm for all of my children now you just have to adjust his one nap to the time which is most convient for you to get your tasks done which is usually harder on you then them. Good Lu

  • SImon gave up his second nap the same way, andt around 14 months. So after a few weeks of a difficult second nap I started to strech out the early nap until about noon. That is still what he takes, about a 2 or 3 hour noon nap, and he is almost 3.

  • My daughter was just about two years old. I know...I was very lucky. She had been taking a nap at 10:00a.m. and another at 3:00p.m. Each nap lasted between an hour and an hour and a half. She now takes one nap a day at 1:00p.m. and will usually sleep between two and two and a half hours.

  • Shelby was an unusual baby I guess. She slept until 9:00 am. Then sometimes would take a nap after her lunch for 2-3 hours. Then it wasn't until she was 3 that she omitted the afternoon nap.

  • Opps...forgot....he may not need to nap that way anymore. All kids are so different. And if he is just laying there...oh well. They kinda make their own schedules.
