Do you start your vegetable garden with seeds?

Or do you buy the little plants at a nursery? If you start with seeds, do you start them indoors, or just put them right in the ground? I've always used the plants at the nursery, but I'd like to save some money and start from seeds but I've never done it....

  • You can do it either way. Usually if your starting them inside your doing it so they are ready to plant for that season. You can do it either way you want and if your weather is nice you can put them directly in the garden so you don't mess up the roots while transplanting them.

  • We have always just planted strait into the ground. There is another question on here about veggie gardens that may help you out, I will find it in a second.

  • We have a short growing season where I live so I use both seeds and plants. I buy tomato and pepper plants and use seeds for the rest. If I'm feeling ambitious I'll start my own seeds for tomatoes and peppers in March.

Not all plants will transplant well.
