Will you get sick if you thoroughly cook spoiled chuck roast & eat it? What about the vegetables that were cooked w/ the meat?

I had a chuck roast that I made for my husband. The outside of the raw meat was a little brown, but the inside was a nice dark red. I don't think the meat was spoiled, but then again I don't eat red meat & I don't know how it's supposed to smell. I went ahead an made it, but now I donno if it's okay to feed to my hubby & 1 y/o. If the meat IS bad, does that mean the veggies I cooked w/ the meat are bad too?

  • Ok... Here's what you do:
    1) Smell your foot
    2) Smell the meat
If they smell at all similar, don't eat that meat!!

Feed it to Ron first. Wait a day. If he is ok, then you can feed it to Lily :)

Aren't you glad you keep me around for helpful household hints?? :-D

  • Does it smell? If not, then it should be fine

  • How long ago did you make it? If it's over 4 days ago then all are bad

  • It can get brown on the outside from being in the freezer. If you notice a very foul smell then it's bad.

  • Agree with the others, if it smells really bad don't feed it to them! As for the veggies I'm not sure....

  • I made it today. The meat smells, but I donno what 'bad' meat smells like. Is the meat supposed to smell at all?
