  • Seek a speech therapist for him. Some kids don't talk until they are ready at 2 my nephew said maybe 5 words and really started talking around 3.

  • Look into Early Intervention in your area. If he qualifies for services, they are free. Or see your doctor and ask for a referral to a speech therapist.

  • Call Early Intervention and have him evaluated. My youngest didn't say his first word until 23 months after a month of therapy. Now, six months later he is age appropriate on vocabulary but still behind on articulation.

If you can't find the number, call the special education department in your local school district!

  • My son turned 2 April 2nd. He doesn't talk. I'm not worried, from Birth to right now he has proven to me how lazy he is. He will in time and I know he can. I'd give it time. My son understands every word out of my mouth but being THE baby (large age gap between him and sisters), he gets what he wants without talking. I take blame Fully!!!!!!

  • Since you're obviously concerned, get him evaluated by your state's Early Intervention team. Even if he's just a late talker, they can help get him caught up. They can also help identify if there's a more serious problem. If there is, the sooner it's acted on, the better. My son wasn't talking at 18 months so we had him evaluated, After 6 months of therapy, he has over 100 words. The testing is free. Your dr, school system or your state's web site should be able to give you the info you need.

  • My son wouldnt talk till he was almost four,he had speach problem and a learning disability.Doc put him in speech therapy and had him start pre-k.,as soon as he was old enough. He would just grunt, winne, cry, like you are saying yours is doing. He would point at what he wanted. So when he started taking speech therapy,He did so good. Now he is 18 and I wish I had roll of duck tape every time he opens his mouth, lol. So don't lose heart,It will get better.Just take him to the docs and tell them everything,They will get him what he needs.Good luck..
