My son will be 5 in July. I am trying to think of fun earth day activities to do with him. Any suggestions?

So far I have decided to plant a tree, clean up the litter (with gloves) in our neighborhood, and replace the remaining regular light bulbs in our home with energy efficient ones. I just found a local drop-off recycling center that will take our cardboard, so I just began collecting it instead of trashing.

  • Learningpage.com has a good cut and paste sorting activity about what we do recycle and what we don't. Make a project with recycled items from your home.

  • Take him for a wilderness walk somewhere to enjoy the outdoors, teach him about plants you see on the way.

It doesn't have to be a long walk, but I'll bet he'll enjoy it.

    Have fun!
