  • there are many different ways to restart your milk..... the best thing to do is find a La Leche League group that is close to you, or you can visit a lactation consultant.

Some people will try to discourage you from doing this.... but it CAN be done!! I know a lady that never gave birth but was able to nurse her adopted baby (along with some supplemental formula) She used a nipple shield that was connected to a tint tube and bag with formula in it. The suckling made her breasts start to produce milk and until her milk came in the baby was getting formula through the tube.

It takes time and commitment to get nursing going again.... Good Luck to you!!

  • Find a lactation consultant, a supplemental nursing system, a pump, probably a nipple shield, and some donor milk for the time being. You can go to the sharemilk group here or on yahoo. The best way to build supply is make demand. So offer the breast as often as possible and pump pump pump. Your lactation consultant can help you get a prescription to help restart the flow. Fenugreek capsules are great for boosting supply =)

Let me just add how much I admire you for trying again to give your baby what's best. You're doing a great thing. Let me know if I can help =)

  • If you can get the baby to latch on, go for that, and pump every 2 hrs.
