When do you switch to 2% milk?

Whole milk is best for growing kids, when should you switch to 2%?

  • My daughter was gettin on the chubby side so we switched her to 2% at 18 months. she is 21 months now and she likes it just as well! She isnt as chunky as she was.. but definitly a healthy girl :)

  • at 2 years old, my son was put on 2%. i was told it was to help prevent obesity.

  • 8 months old. My son has never had whole milk. He got the fat he needed from other sources, yogurt, cheese, ice cream,etc.

  • Mine went right to 2% per the pediatrician. They didn't need the extra fat as they were getting it from other sources.

  • Mine has always drank skim. He gets enough fat from other foods, and usually he prefers water to milk anyway.

  • When my kids doctor tells me to. My oldest was switched at 2, I think. My twins were switched at 3 I think. I just wait for the doc to tell me.
