  • I have found that it is best to start with a timed toileting schedule. Every 30-60 minutes tell your child, "It is time to potty!" Have them sit on the potty for a few minutes. If they have trouble sitting for very long, have them a favorite book or toy to look at. The book or toy is only played with when they are sitting on the potty. If you take them on a regular schedule, they will eventually have success in the potty and you will have a reward ready for them. By taking them on a schedule, you are helping them know success. Rewards should be anyting that you know your child would do anything for. I really hate pull-ups! If your child is having much success with toileting then switch from diapers to regular underpants.
