Is there a difference between a tubal ligation and 'getting your tubes tied'?

I rarely hear anyone talk about tubal ligation but hear more about someone getting their 'tubes tied'. Is it the same thing?

  • Samething, different methods. They used to just cut and tie the tubes off, but the tubes could grow back. Now the cut, burn and tie the tubes, less likehood of growing back together. My friend even had them cut off extra tube to make sure there would be no chance of them growing back together.

  • Tubal ligation is when they cut them then burn them no way of turning back or getting knocked up.
Tubes tied just tied more risk of getting untied and prego .

  • They're the same thing. There are different methods, but "getting your tubes tied" is layman's terms for a tubal ligation.
