What do you send your kids for lunch M-F???

Right now they are buying lunch but today they were both telling me how yucky the cafeteria food is, they said it was not made with love like yours mommy (I thought that was sweet:).

So I am thinking about starting to send them their lunch in a bag/lunch box, or atleast once in awhile. Any ideas on food that kids really like my kids are more of a PB&J and Lunchables.

  • I do half a pbj or turkey and cheese, add a cheese stick, applesauce or fruit leather and a drink. Sometimes a few crackers.

  • My son's school does not have a cafeteria so there is no hot school lunch option.

He loves black bean quesadillas, pretzel dogs, sometimes pizza that is leftover, ham and cheese rolled in tortillas, we make our own lunchables. We are always trying to find new things.
He always gets a fruit and a veggie, somehow he likes frozen veggies in his lunch. He always has a peanut and jelly wrap for snack.

  • my son has son has allergies so I have to send his lunch. some times I try to make him an allergy free version of what the cafe is serving, (the home version will taste better). my son is allergic to milk which includes cheese, so on days they have pizza at school I make him one with soy or veggie cheese. but right know he's on a hotdog kick. Ask your kids what they want for lunch or have them help you make there own lunches the night before.

  • I would ask their opinion on what they would like to have and go from there. They might actually feel excited about helping mommy pack their lunches.

  • i always send a pb&j, some fruit (applesauce or something), a veggie (carrot sticks, whatever they like).

sometimes i send chips or a bag of cereal or a couple cookies or something, but i try to make it as healthy as possible. i dont send a ton of stuff because my SD doesn't eat a lot at lunch - she is miss social butterfly...lol

  • My kids eat breakfast & lunch at school & love it. But I remember when I was a kid, I asked my mom for a thermos & brought "hot" lunch on my own. She would give me soup or pasta & it was the best. I would have a few crackers or veggies to compliment whatever she sent. She would also give me a sweet treat every day but she was really clever about it. Instead of a package of M & M's, she would count out 8 or 10 in a bag. That way I got dessert but not a sugar overload.
