my daughter doesn't burp anymore... is that a problem?

my daughter is now about a year old... and when she was breastfed i would burp her after she was done.. eventually she got on formula.. and she would burp on her own.. so i stopped burping her.

but now she doesn't burp. but her gas does come out the other end.

is it ok that she doesn't burp? or should i try burping her again?

being serious here... gas doesn't seem to bother her. she isn't fussy or anything...

  • Nope, I wouldn't if I were you. Her body's taking care of it on it's own. Yay for your baby growing up :)

  • Sounds about normal to me. You can stop burping your baby once she starts moving around... the air can get out better on its own... from either end :)

  • My son has started burping on his own but he's been a farter from day one :) I wouldn't worry as long as the gas is able to get out and she doesn't seem fussy or constipated.

  • my daughter doesnt burp either , i never noticed but her dad was burping her for a half hour!! n she never burped , i was like sit her near u (incase she throws up) shell burp on her end , wen we burp her shes either letting out the tiniest burp or none at all ... then wen we just sit her in her saucer or swing she lets out huge nasty ones lol

  • If your child is not exploding then she is burping. You just aren't noticing it. Its probably very quiet. And yes, she IS passing gas. (for the same reason.) If she seems uncomfortable, though, thats a question for the doctor.
