What is pesto exactly?

  • Classic pesto sauce is usually made up of fresh basil, garlic, pine nuts, olive oil and parm cheese....that is fairly standard, but you can make other pestos, such as sun dried tomato pesto, using SDT instead of basil, etc...

  • Tradionally mde with a mortal and pestle, most of us us a food processor or blender. They can be made fresh in the summer with garden herbs, and frozen (freeze in ice cube trays and transfer to a zipper bag) to be enjoyed year 'round.
