Flakey Nipples???!? (possibly tmi)

Okay, I am concerned about my nipples...I am 12w 4d & noticed over the last couple days that besides getting a little larger & looking slightly puffy, my nipples are flakey! Not crusty or anything, but there are flakes of skin where the areola meets the actual nipple! I was wondering if this is normal or not...

  • I had that too... mine was nothing to worry about, but do have it checked on your next doctors visit. For mine, I used lanosolin. (its food grade lanolin made for nursing moms) it helped me a lot!!

There are probably other products out there that would do just as well. Check in the area where breast pumps are sold. Lots of nursing moms have the same problem (though mine, like yours started while I was still PG)

    Good Luck!

  • probably just dry skin...try some lotion for a week see if that helps out the flakes.

  • Are you sure its the skin and not dried colostrum? My nipples leaked while i was preg and i thought it was dry skin too until i pushed on my breasts and i got a drop of colostrum out.
