What is a good meal (minus soup) for a sore throat?

I have a bad cold right now and my throat feels as though I have swallowed 50 shattered glasses!! My husband is picking up something for dinner on his way home and asked what I want. I know I want something soft and soup is good for you, but I hate soup!! Any suggestions? Add recipes if required please!! Thank you very much!!

  • I don't have meal Ideas, but I know that honey does a great job with sore throats! I never believed that it worked because it doesn't work instantly, it takes an hour or two, but then it's gets so much better! Also, if you take a couple thousand mg of vitamin C you should be back in no time!
Sorry I couldn't help with the food though.. I just learned these things this last year, and had to share, cuz I know it works from my own experience!

  • I don't think there is any real "meal" =\ But maybe potatoes wouldn't hurt too much or some ice cream. I know you said you don't like soup, but I swear boiling about a cup of water and putting half a bouillon in there and then sipping on that broth will make your throat feel SOOO much better! Try it =]

  • My dad, who likes hot things, swears that cayenne pepper on eggs helps his sore throat every time.

  • Mashed things, and purees. Anything soft. Chew well.

Salty things help sore throats. Try gargling with harsh salt water, or eat something salty. I always eat pickles. Just make sure you chew them well. :)

  • Anything salty. After that, then jello, popsicles, tea with honey and lemon. I hope you feel better soon.
