  • there are drops for cleaning out the ears, and i found these really neat q-tip type things you crack it and it has cleaning solution for around the eyes. you can also brush their teeth yourself, and cut their nails. just ask for someone at a pet store to tell you how to use the clippers or the toothbrush if you have never done it yourself. if you do all that yourself than you really only have to take them in for their yearly shots/exam. or you could take them to a petsmart (if there is one near you) or a local pet store and some of those will do the cleanings etc for you much cheaper than a vet.

  • Ask your vet about the 3yr rabies shot versus 1 yrs. There are vet offices that offer it but only if you ask for it. Also ask your vet about taking your pets together at the same visit. Normally there is a discount for this. As vebchmommy said definately brush their teeth and clip your nails yourself. This is not difficult and no reason to pay a vet 15.00 or more to trim nails. If you are afraid of cutting them too short there is things that you can put on them to stop the bleeding. Also ask your vet about giving your dog and cat the distemper shot yourself. The vet clinic here does allow this and that way you can avoid the exam fee or office fee.
