I would take an extra pair of clothes as carryon. For you and your baby.
I know in some instances, because of the varying pressure of landing and lifting off, the baby throws up.
To prevent that, we just had our baby suck on his pacie, and covered his ears gently before/during lift off, and landing. It's the same as chewing on, if he's working his jaw, his ears won't pop as much.
Also cradling him, and humming/whispering in his ear, distracting him might ease the loud noises as well.
Our baby was fine his first flight. He was 5 months old.
Best of luck!
