  • We have several midwives in the Birth is Normal and Birth Unhindered groups if you would like to ask them. You can also join the group Ask A Midwife. I know some midwives out here in LA charge about $2000 for prenatal, birth and postnatal care.

  • Also, if you ask, most midwives will work out a payment plan with you as long as you pay before your birth.

  • Are you supposed to tip at each prenatal visit? I heard you're supposed to.

  • $2000? I heard it's upward of $6000! At least that's what my research has led me to believe! $6000 to $8000 and you have to prepay.

  • It depends on where you're located. Different cities will bring different price ranges. The midwife I'm friends with has never asked for any "tips". If someone can make a payment towards their total she will ask at an appointment. Where are you located?

  • Also I've never heard of a midwife needing you to prepay before doing prenatal care. Almost all midwives require you pay off your total by the 37th or 38th week, because after then you can pretty much go into labor at any time.

  • My midwife charged $2000 for all of my care. Insurance covered $1800 of it. We had a homebirth.

I'd run away from any midwife that expected tips. That's ridiculous!
