What should be the increase in weight

Hi, my baby was born less weight (2.438kgs). It is already 22 days of birth and his weight is 2.65kgs. Is it normal. How much should be the average weight increase per day for infants within a month or 2. Thanks

  • 5 pounds, 13 ounces isn't that low. In the first week, most babies lose 5 to 7% of their weight. Then they start to gain it back. Overall, most babies gain 4 to 7 ounces (0.11kg to 0.45kg) a week in the first month. So at 22 days, yours should have gained 12 to 21 ounces (0.33kg to 1.35kg).
Yours might be a little slow to gain that weight so be sure to talk it over with your doctor at the 1 month check up.
