Fabric

Are you suppose to wash fabric before you make something out of it? Im not using a pattern. I would think that you would, but I wanted to make sure first.

  • Yes you are, that way any shrinking of the material is already done before you make your project.

  • Its good to, simply b/c when you sew the hem, if the material shrinks, it would pull and tug and not lay flat.

  • It depends. If you are making a quilt, then either wash all of the material you will use, or wash none of it.. That way it is either already shrunk or will shrink together when you wash it for the first time as long as the content of the fabrics are all the same.
