How can I keep my crawler from getting rug burn on his knees?

My little guy loves to crawl, but it is getting warm out and I can't just stick him in pants all the time, but his little knees just get so red! I know how bad rug burn can feel, and I don't want him to get it. What solutions have you come up with?

  • You can get fairly thin knit pants for babies; those shouldn't be too hot unless you keep you house really hot. You can also put down a huge blanket or comforter on the floor, but it makes crawling more difficult for a beginner.

  • We had a bunch of "creepers", like a onesie with legs.

  • They'll toughen up soon. I tried to prevent it, too. Didn't work. It's not so much rug burn as it is just irritation. It never bothered them.
