Change the census?

If they added an option to the census for Raised in a Faith But Do Not Actively Practice, how would the numbers change? The last survey shows about 72% of people identify as Christian. How far would that number drop if lapsed was an option?

  • I think that number would drop pretty significantly & give a more accurate picture of the country.

  • Actually, there are datasets that already measure this. Go to the social science journals and look for the number. It might surprise you.

  • so you want to know how many call themselves Christian but do not go to church or how many were raised Christian and do not consider themselves Christians anymore?
