What age can kids start using flouride toothpaste?

My son is 2 and hes getting pretty good at brushing.. still not good at spitting but he doesnt use a whole lot of toothpaste anyway but that Orajel toothpaste is getting kinda expensive.. is it ok to switch to kids kind?

  • Crest has kids toothpaste too. I think they have to be 3 or able to spit it out.

  • I agree with "when they can spit". That's what the pediatric dentist told us.

  • 6, I think. Check with your child's dentist (if you haven't had that first checkup, it is past time). Tom's of Maine has excellent toothpastes for kids; we still use the strawberry (also great for mosquito bites). Look for it at Target.
