How do I introduce whole milk?

Do I just give it to him or do I dilute it and gradually phase it in?

  • On my sons 1st birthday I gave him whole milk in a sippy cup with no problem. No need to dilute.

  • Thanks. Someone told me once if I just give it to him it will look like he is lactose intolerant. But they never told me what else to do!

  • We made the switch cold turkey and she didn't even seem to notice.

  • We just made the switch with our boys.

I've NEVER heard of watering it down. I've only heard of slowly mixing it in with formula or breastmilk....75%/25% then 50/50 then 25/75 then 100 milk.

  • I don't know if this is frowned upon or not, but we started giving our son whole milk through his regular bottle for about a week or two. Than one day we wanted to see how he'd be by just getting milk through a sippy. He didn't really seem to notice. I mean, he was a little fussy the first, maybe second day too, but after that, he didn't care!! Worked for me :)

  • Like TiccledBlue suggested water it don with formaula, not straight water..they need the vitamins and waters not gonna give you that.Honestly before my kids turned 1 they had already tasted dairy and I knew they were not allergic so i was able to just give them whole milk!GL
