Really effective ways of starting labor at home

I am nearing the end of my pregnancy and every time I see my OBGYN he says that I haven't started dilating yet... this is very frustrating. Has anyone successfully managed to dilate using any of the old wives tales? I've been having sex 2-3 times a day and at least 3 times a week; if not more. I've tried just about everything and nothing seems to be helping. I would prefer not to be induced or to have a c-section. Anyone able to shed some light on this for me?

  • if you are over 37 weeks then i would say it is safe. although i believe your baby may not be completely ready. so here is my advice.... walking did wonders for me in my pregnancy. my son was born exactly on his due date. my daughter came 2 weeks early. i did not dilate at all with my son. so 2 days before he was born i walked for like 2 hours in the morning (at a decent pace) and another hour in the middle of the day. i also had my husband do the perineal massage after i had a nice warm bath. he also massaged my back and feet. and while he was massaging my right foot my water broke. they say there is a spot some where on a womans foot that can trigger labor. also playing with your nipples and having orgasms can help smooth things along.

  • It will happen when the baby is ready. One way or another you will have your baby soon. Sex only softens the cervical lining. Walking helps to open your hips and so do squats. Nothing will make you dilate until your body is ready. So let it happen likes it meant to happen before you end up having a c-section if you don't want one. They will induce you after the 40 week mark if you haven't gone into labor alone. Some babies just aren't ready to come when we want. So be patient as its the only thing you can do.

  • I hope you are at least 36 weeks, as that is the safest time to try. Relax about it. Being anxious won't help. If anything it will slow things down. If you have an exercise ball, you can try squatting on it and bouncing up and down. If you feel pressure when you do this, you're getting close. At your next appointment, ask your OBGYN if your baby has dropped. If yes, ask if he/she feels it's safe to strip your membranes. That should help your body recognize it's time to start labor. Also, you could try an herbal supplement called Blue Cohosh. This herb has been used for centuries to start labor. Also, you need to orgasm when you have sex, and try a lot of nipple play. These things kick-start labor. I also saw my Chiropractor who adjusted my hips. It worked for me! Good luck to you!

  • I just remembered, there's a point on your foot that will start labor. On either foot, above the heel, massage on either side of the achilles tendon. It will probably be pretty tender, but breathe through it. Also there is a point on your hand between your thumb and forefinger. Hold that point for 5 minutes and then release for 10. Repeat this for an hour. Hope these things help you. If you're not sure where I'm talking about, you can message me.
