Did anyone else just bite their baby's nails when they were really little instead of trying to use clippers?

  • My husband did it every time with our first daughter... it worked great. With our second daughter he tried the clippers on several occasions and she bled every time.

  • When they were newborns I could basically just carefully peel them right off with my own nail, carefully like I said so it didn't go down too far. I also used a nail file.

  • Yeah nail files work better, especially after a bath. Those baby clippers are a pain in the butt if you ask me lol. I wouldn't bite though.

not always the beest idea i guess but it got the job done lol

  • Yup! It worked a lot better for us than clippers and his nails were too soft for files.

  • I do.. still. She doesn't sit still enough to even use safety clippers. I used them once after I had just had her & knicked her finger. I felt horrible, when she's a bit bigger we'll use clippers, until then I bite them & file them.

  • Eww no. And now at 8 months she actually sits still and watches me. I think its better to get them used to it.

  • we never bit our daughters nails though i was told by several seasoned parents that it was a good way to go. we use the clippers on a weekly basis and yes...we knicked her twice in six months. i suggest doing it while they're asleep or while they're eating
