What kind of snacks do you offer you kids after school?

My kids are so stuck on PB & J with a glass of milk.

  • fruit, cheese & crackers, go-gurt yougrts-my girls like them frozen, microwave popcorn, pretzels, fruit smoothies in the warmer weather.  Usually fruit juice, water or kool-aid to drink.

  • I don't. My daughter throws holy fits about eating her meals so I don't give her a snack until after we eat dinner. We eat at 4:30 or 5 though...lol...maybe we should move to a retirement community.

  • Most of the time my kids don't have snacks until after they eat a meal. Otherwise, they just want snacks instead of mealtime. But we always do, cheese and crackers, fruits, cottage cheese, granola bars, breads with butter, bagel, fun pasta shapes, pretzels or crackers, or Sunchips.

  • My son has to ration out his own snacks at school (mid mornign and afternoon) but I usually tell him to eat the crackers in the afternoon so he doesn't have to eat warm fruit :P

  • My kids come home from school STARVING! They eat lunch at 11:00 and get home around 3ish. My son will eat and eat and eat, and still eat dinner but my daughter will snack and then not touch her dinner. I admire you moms who mentioned all the healthy snacks. My kids have got stuck on having chips, popcicles or cookies. Maybe I should insist on a sandwich or cheese and crackers. Thanks for the ideas!!

  • cheese cubes, fruit or yogurt are always allowed as a snack here...special treats are a cookie or small piece of candy. I recently found a low fat brownie mix that was actually pretty good...

  • A burrito, a salad, hummus and veggies, a can of Bernie-Os, an apple, an orange, a grapefruit, a bowl of frozen blueberries with chocolate chips. It really varies.

  • We try making snack time fun. Try banana fishing
a peeled banana with peanut butter on the tip, then go "fishing"
for cheerios or goldfish, etc. in a bowl.
