Should undocumented parents of children born in US apply for Citizenship therefore obligated to pay taxes?

A recent study has concluded that more and more children of undocumented immigrants are born in the United States: the proportion has risen by 10 percentage points since 2003, to 73 percent. About 6.8 percent of all K-12 school children have at least one parent who was undocumented in 2008.

Also an estimated 11.9 million illegal immigrants made up 5.4 percent of the U.S. work force, primarily in lower-paying farming, construction or janitorial work.

  • Actually they shouldn't automatically become citizens but since that does happen .....Of course they should. IF they want their kids to be in America to get American benifits they need to pay for them just as Americans do.

  • Regulations are made to be implemented if any person is staying in the US illegally he must be reported. From there being in his/her country he/she can start the process of applying to enter in the US.

  • Anyone who lives in the US, documented or not, should have to pay taxes. It's ridiculous what foreigners get away with here.

  • My Hubby is a permanent resident here from the UK. He works very hard and pays his taxes... It's sad because there are so many Americans that boohoo about not having anything, money, job, homes, etc and he's been here 10 yrs, self employed, owns a home and we have an awesome life... As for illegals they should be sent back if they don't have perm residency or citizenship... It's time for the free ride to come to an end...

  • They should be paying taxes they are sucking up resources and over crowding hospitals in Cali. They should help pay for it. We are never going to deport them so make the criminals pay.

  • Yes.. even if you come to the US on a Work Visa, you still have to file a tax return. It is money that you made in the US.

Employers are the ones who should help the undocumented to obtain their residence. But in practice employers don't care. Employers are going to keep hiring low wage labor.

  • Yes they should pay taxes. We are paying for their children's care. Everyone should pay taxes or do community service work if they don't have the money. It is time to quit giving these people a free ride so they can vote for the Democratic party.
