Keeping new cotton clothes from shrinking?

We just bought some perfectly comfortable oversized cotton V-neck T-shirts for my pregnancy. Last time when i bought them i put them on after washing and had to take them back due to shrinkage. Its strange because they shrink vertically but not horozontally. I know to use cold water for washing and fluff dry for drying. But im afraid it wont work.. I need them to keep their shape! How else can i keep them from shrinking?

  • buy them a size too big, they will still shrink but that way they shrink to your size. after the first wash they don't shrink as badly, its a slower process then

  • i agree with buying one size larger. also, you could look for shirts that are not 100% cotton, even though it's not as comfy. or find shirts that say "pre-shrunk".
