  • I started when he was doubled in weight, acting hungry after a bottle, interested in my food and no longer had the tongue thrust reflex. So, I started at 4 months with rice cereal.

  • cereal at 6 months, baby food mixed in the cereal at 7 months, very little table food at 8 months. still eats bottles 3-4 times a day though. you don't want to start too early, doctors say 4 months is the earliest but they really recommend you wait till 6 months for any solid food, including cereal.

  • My first started rice cereal at 4.5 months and loved it, my second we didn't even try till 6 months but she didn't want to have anything to do with it until 7 months (now she's obsessed). Both kept up their breastmilk intake, though, till we switched to whole milk at 12 months.

  • I started rice cereal a little before 4 months. My sons a spitter, so was hoping it would help keep things down. The doc told us we could start fruits and veggies at four months since he was doing so well on the cereal. He is 5 months now. And maybe eats a jar a day. We dont give him much. Just a little bit for taste and to get used to eating.

  • No, anon, I guess the aap doesn't know. DD1 wasn't interested until 10 months. DD2 is 7 months, and will eat a bite or two here and there.

  • To ANON 1:38..are you nuts? You never put it in their bottle, and not all kids eat at 4 months.
