solids while teething?

The spoons hurt my teething 7 month old's mouth and she doesn't want to eat. Should I keep trying or just nurse her more often? She usually loves her food.

  • Give her teether biscuits and things like that. Try using a different spoon as well. Our daughter will only eat off a metal spoon and she is teething. Try plastic spoons or the ones with the rubber part on the spoon. If not just give her what she will eat.

  • Your instincts are dead on.. Let her nurse more. Give her a sippy cup with water. Freeze damp washclothes for her to chew on. Get some Hylands teething tabs, especially if she is having a hard time sleeping.

  • I would also let her nurse more often... she doesn't really *need* the solids now (I'm not at all saying you shouldn't be giving them... my 7 month old is a table food piggie) but you don't have to worry about her not getting them.
