  • Yes it is WAY more contagious then the regular flu and only 2 antibiotics can help. Here's the website: http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/ hopefully everyone can read this and get over the fact that it's a hoax or not that serious. People are dying from this. There's no need to panic, but everyone should be cautious and educated about it.

  • No. However NO ONE has antibodies built up against it and that is why it is spreading so quickly. This flu has not been around the nearly 30 years. With the "regular" flu, most people have been exposed to it and have antibodies against it so a wide spread "regular" flu epidemic is almost unheard of. Plus, every year the majority of the US gets vaccinated to protect against "regular" flu. This is why Swine Flu is spreading so quickly. Also, NO ONE WASHES THEIR HANDS!! No one practices simple and common sense hygiene. Gross!

The regular flu kills over 600 people a day in the USA alone. Over 200,000 people will be hospitalized in one year in the US. This flu so far is less contagious than the regular flu on our soil and less deadly.

I do agree to wash your hands.

  • You people are really that ignorant, aren't you? First of all, what is with being anonymous in your answers?! Second of all, it is EXTREMELY CONTAGIOUS, why do you think it is spreading so quickly thru the country and people are dying?! Why do you think the government is talking about quarantine and why would it be a stage 5 out of 6 for an epidemic. Has anyone ever heard of education?! School are closing over this, but "its not contagious" (sarcastic of course).

  • 600 people a day do not die from the flu. Only around 36,000 people a year die from it. Those that die are usually the elderly and the very young and those with compromised immune systems. If 600 people a day died, then that would 219,000 a year. You're right, over 200,000 people a year will be hospitalized though. More are expected to be hospitalized with the Swine Flu. Look at the numbers of REPORTED cases, and this just hit the US 3 days ago.

  • I'm not saying "It's not contagious"....I am saying that it's not more contagious than "regular" flu. I am educated. It's spreading so quickly because a) no one washes their hands and b) this strain of flu has not been seen in nearly 30 years. When something isn't seen that long, no one has immunities against it.

And I prefer to be anon because so many people are hysterical about this swine flu I don't want hate mail or some crap like that. People do weird things when they are freaking out about something.

  • Here, straight from the CDC website: Most people will not have immunity to this new virus and, as it continues to spread, more cases, more hospitalizations and more deaths are expected in the coming days and weeks

  • ALSO From the CDC website:

Is this swine flu virus contagious?
CDC has determined that this swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is contagious and is spreading from human to human. However, at this time, it is not known how easily the virus spreads between people.
