Postpartum contractions

I had my son a week ago, and I'm still feeling some painful contractions, they hurt really bad, and I can feel them not only in my abdomen, but in my lower back too. I'm breastfeeding. Is this normal? I don't know what to expect, and I'm trying not to freak out.

  • its just your cervix contracting back into its normal pre prego size...it is normal and if its persist for more then the "six weeks recovering stage" call your obgyn and let them know everything you are feeling and for how long. GL feel better and maybe try some tynenol and a warm bath prior of possibly after nursing your little one.

  • Very normal, especially when breastfeeding. I didn't have any contractions after my first was born, but with my second I had a LOT. Also, they were really bad when I had a clot I needed to pass.

  • Totally normal while nursing, just tough it out and take some tylenol if the doc says its ok. It will get better with time.
