Need experienced advice.....

ok So my daughter is a year and a half old. She showed signs of wanting to potty train at one but when id put her on the training potty she would just hold it and not go, then id pick her up and she would pee everywhere. So i figured id wait a little while. Now she is pulling her diaper off everytime she pees in it so im trying it again but coming up with the same problem. She just wont go! lol any advice on potty training is appreciated.

  • i think she is just a little to young but give her about a sounds like she will just take her diaper off and go.just give her a little more time.all my daughters trained before they were 2 and most of them really trained them self.good luck

  • A lot of kids don't have the same muscle control standing up as sitting down. It's good that she's interested, but I'd wait until she's squatting in her diapers to try again, as she may be physically incapable of letting go of her urine in a seated position quite yet.

  • ok i have tried this and it did work with my daughter and she is the same age....go to walmart or target k mart...wherever and get a little spray bottle...when you sit her on the potty tell her in a sing song voice to go " pee pee in the potty!" then if she looks at you like she doesn't know what to do just take the spray bottle and spray it on her pee pee...don't drench her just enough to let her know that it's ok...some of them are scared that they aren't supossed to pee in the try that and see if that helps:) good luck!

  • Lots of kids will pee once they stand up. This is a common problem in early potty training (early in the process, not early age). Simply say - Oh Look! You peed! Then calmly clean it up and try again in a couple hours. Eventually she will pee in the potty and then you can make a big deal out of that. She'll catch on.

All kids truly are different so you will have to figure out if she is ready to keep going or if you should back off for a while. For example, my daughter never squats to pee or poop. Never has. So if I'd waited for that, we'd still be in diapers. Same with other advice you will hear: wait until she is dry all night, wait until she asks, let her self train, etc. There is no one thing that will work for all kids. The best thing is to just keep trying, evaluating your own frustration level and your child's stress level - backing off if either gets too high. Good luck!
