Why?

Why is it that some people say your EDD is 40 weeks from LMP and then others say it is 40 weeks from conception? Which is true?

  • All I know is you take the first day of your last period, go back 3 mos and then add 1 week. That is your EDD.

  • Your EDD is estimated 40 weeks from the first day of your last period. Not sure where the 3 months came in. Conception is calculated 38 weeks back from your due date.

  • If someone is 10 weeks pregnant does that suggest they concieved 10 weeks ago OR 8 weeks ago? or could it be either?

  • SOOO what is true? one person said a pregnancy is dated from LMP (40 weeks = lmp) (38 weeks = ovulation/concepton) and another person said it's dated as being 40 weeks from conception....
