How much weight had you lost at your 6-8 week post-partum check up?

I had lost all but my last 11 pounds with my son, but I still had 20 pounds left with my daughter. I gained the same amount with both pregnancies (37 pounds.) I don't understand why I didn't lose more with my daughter. I didn't do anything differently. I lost a total of 26 pounds with my son and 16 with my daughter. I was wondering what everyone else lost at their check-up.

Be thankful. Weight doesn't drop off of everyone like that.

With me, it seems that it doesn't matter what I eat or how much, I still don't lose weight. I cut out soda, sweets, white bread/grain products, everything went to low/no fat. Even counted daily fat/calorie intake for the longest time --- I was down to 900 calories a day for a good 3 wks --- never lost an ounce.

  • I had lost ALL of it by my 6 weeks, but I only gained 20 lbs. But, this is where all the weight goes, more or less. My son was 7lbs 5 oz.

    Baby
    8 pounds

    Placenta
    2-3 pounds

    Amniotic fluid
    2-3 pounds

    Breast tissue
    2-3 pounds

    Blood supply
    4 pounds

Fat stores for delivery and breastfeeding
    5-9 pounds

    Uterus increase
    2-5 pounds

Apparently I didn't have any extra fat stores?

  • I lost 30, most of which I'm guessing was water weight and some fat. I had gained 60 though. It's different with every baby though too. Maybe you gained more fat with the 2nd one which is obviously harder to lose. Plus your metabolism slows down as you get older too, making it harder to lose weight.
