  • I give my twins their food first then when they have eaten I give them their milk, otherwise they will drink and not eat. We actually don't need to drink when we eat it is something that we learn to do not something we need to do.

  • My son is just under 1, he has milk first thing in the morning and last thing at night. During the day I just leave his sippy cup within reach for him and he goes thru a couple of those a day as well as all his food.

  • Food. First of all, although many people don't know this it's actually bad for digestion to consume liquids (water, milk, etc) and food at the same time. Instead, you should eat and then drink something approximately 15 minutes prior.

But there are other reasons he has food first. Between ages 1 and 2 a child only needs one to two cups of whole fat milk per day. And it tends to be a little filling. So I usually avoid it until closer to night time so that he's full and completely satisfied before going to sleep. During the day he only has water.
