  • My kids have diarrhea, too, but no fever or anything. In fact, they are acting as if they feel their best, but they poo like crazy today.

I'm wondering if there isn't possibly a stomach bug going around again, but good luck finding out amongst the swine hubbub.

  • The "symptoms" of swine flu are the same for so many other things - including regular flu and a bad cold.
Yes, have him tested. If he has it, the CDC will want to know. But it won't change anything about how you should care for him.

Rest, fluids, treat his fever if it gets over 102, RICE diet, etc. Use the same common sense stuff you have used up to this point.

  • I wouldn't worry if they don't have a high fever... kids get sick it will happen... swine flu is basically the same thing as the regular flu and is treated in much the same way, no need to panic. If your child has a high fever by all means I would see a doc without a fever could be allergies or a common cold.

  • Our pediatrician's office said if they have a nasty cold with a fever to bring them in. Diarrhea and vomiting are not common symptoms of the swine flu...only a few people are getting those.

    It is a respiratory illness.

  • Parents should seek emergency assistance if their child experiences any of the following:

    Fast breathing or trouble breathing
    Bluish skin color
    Not drinking enough fluids
Not waking up or not interacting
Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
    Fever with a rash
