Is it bad to let a 6 month old suck on an orange?

Not it being a choking hazard, because of the juice in them.

  • you will probably find that your baby gets a bad diaper rash. Orange juice is highly acidic, and when they poop or pee it just makes them raw down there. Same goes for tomatoes. Things like that should wait until they are older.

  • Infants can have an allergy to citrus.Have you done this already?If so,you found out the hard way that your child isn't allergic!

  • I would worry about the choking hazard, and I can't think of any way to avoid the hazard. If you'd scoop the pulp out and have none of the white left, perhaps. - but this wouldn't be sucking on an orange, just eating it.

  • Yes! citrus is an allergy trigger food that should not be given before baby turns 1.
