what is the difference between a Chapel and a Church

Our Church has Chapel and a Church.

  • I think a chapel is for events like weddings and church is for worship...

  • Steff gave a good example of how the words are used to differentiate the uses of the different buildings or different parts of a building.

    Though the answer can differ by denomination. We consider the church the whole building, and the chapel the main room where worship services are held.

    Also the word "church" can refer to a denomination as a whole, i.e. the leaders of xyz church decided...
