What do I do? My 8 month old won't take his bottle

My son just doesn't really want his bottle anymore. He will eat cereal and regular food till he explodes, but only has 2 or 3 bottles a day. I think at his age most of his calories are supposed to come from his formula, I could be wrong, but it kind of worries me. He hates juice and sippy cups, so I'm also a little worried about him getting enough fluids.

I just want to know if this is normal or OK, and if not what should I do?

  • well you obviously started him on food too early. but at that age it should be about 3-4 bottles a day. ask the pedi too.

  • No juice, just water or formula in the sippy cups. Make sure that he is eating really healthy foods: good fats for his brain like avocado, egg yolk, olive oil; calcium and iron rich foods like cooked beans and greens; colorful foods like cooked sweet potato and beets and carrots.. See if your local library has Super Baby Foods by Ruth Yaron; information at www.superbabyfood.com.

  • If you're really concerned, try giving it to him in a regular cup- pretty much pouring it into his mouth.
