How Long......

How long does it usually take of missed payments for them to come and repo your car? We are about 45 days late and we go through Americredit. Situations came up that forced the late payment.

  • i believe it is usually 90 days. give them a call and see if you can get an extension on your loan, they charge about $150 to do it, but they will just extend the payments you've missed to the end of your loan cycle, this is what i did with them when i found out our payments didn't go through on time (we have a military allotment and they didn't get the first two payments on time, so we just extended it that way we didn't have to play catch up to get up to date, b/c even if you pay this months you'll be behind on next month unless you can pay it all at once, and if you are perpetually late they can try to get it repo'd then)

  • Call them tomorrow and explain. If you can resume payments, they will probably work with you. They really don't want your car, they want payment.

  • Depends on the group. Usually 60 days or more. I'd try and pay anything if you can...just to show you have the intentions of paying. Even call and work something out. When we had a family death we lost some pay due to not working from funeral arrangements (etc). Anyways, I called our finance company and worked out an arrangement where we only paid the interest and pushed the payment back 2 months. It helped us get caught back up. I hope that this your finance institution ASAP.

  • It usually takes about 3 months of missed payments, then they will repo.

  • Its usually three months. Why don't you call them and at least pay something on it. Show them that you're trying. Even if you just pay $5 at least its something. I'm sorry to hear you're having bad times. I wish you the best.
