crawling before sitting?

My son is 6 months old and he's been rolling over for awhile now.
Just recently he's been trying to crawl. He gets up on all fours and bounces and pushes forward then collapses. But he's trying, very hard.

I always thought babies were supposed to sit on their own before they crawled.
Is this normal?
should I be concerned?

  • Mine can not pull himself into a sitting position but he too is trying to crawl. I wouldn't worry about it.

  • All kids are different. There is no normal.

  • All kids are different. :) Some kids start to army crawl before they can hold themselves up. Some kids skip crawling altogether and go to walking. My son refused tummy time, sat up early, crawled late, walked early. Go figure. :)
