My son is 12months and not pulling himself up or crawling properly, peditrican said he has low muscle tone does anyone have some advice for ways to help him?

  • Massage his arms and legs, and give him lots of tummy time with toys just out of reach to encourage desire to crawl. Try massaging lotion into his limbs, and then working his limbs like you would for physical therapy. Just slowly bend and unbend. GL.

  • well - first of all get a second opinion about the low muscle tone. right away. some babies skip crawling and don't walk until a bit later too - so don't worry about that - unless doc is right and it a muscle tone. Then they should refer you to a children's therapy center. My little sis has poor muscle tone and if she had kept up on her therapy she would be in much better shape right now - she has a hard time running and riding bikes - things kids should be able to do. It's not too big a deal since your child is young - as long as you be sure to follow thru and do the therapy.

  • "run" his legs. stand him up with your support. Tummy time as suggested above... I also say get a second opinion. If the second opinion says the same.. he may recommend a physical therapist
