Can you use 1/2 the butter in a cookie recipe and replace 1/2 with shortening?

I don't want to use up both sticks of butter in the house. When I make chocolate chip cookies can I use 1/2 c.butter and 1/2 c.shortening?

  • Yes you can. The flavor will be a little different, but it won't affect the consistency of the cookie.

  • But then again Mommy2seven doesn't taste like applesauce? I would use the shortening. good luck. At least your making them from scratch and not from a box. Kuddos
