Who would you rather your child marry: someone of a different race, or someone of the same sex?

(cross posted in Religion & Beliefs)

This is in response to the religion vs race question.

Personally, I would have no problem with my (white) daughter someday bringing home a man or, white, or whatever. As long as she is happy and loved and the person treats her with respect.

  • someone who loves, respects and treats them well. I don't have a preference as to the gender of that person, that's only for each kid to decide for themselves.

our race is human, so as long as they stick to that, we're covered.

  • I would rather him marry someone of a different race but as long as he was truly happy...I wouldn't mine who he brought long as they were a nice person.

  • Either is okay with me as long as theyre happy, but if I HAD to choose- different race.. I want grandbabies one day.

  • I honest to goodness don't care as long as they are happy. But for the sake of seeing my son in the delivery room and my daughter hold her baby after delivery, I guess I would have to say different race. But, they could always get a surrogate or do invitro, so whatever.

  • I would rather my babies bring home someone that they love. I wouldn't care, black, brown, blue, boy, girl. I want my kids to be happy.

  • I think I answered it in Religion and Beliefs, but I'll answer here, just in case. I honestly don't care. I want my daughter to be happy. So long as the person she loved felt the same way about her and treated her the way she deserved to be treated, I would just want her happy. I don't really see color or gender or anything like that when it comes to love.

  • It wouldn't make a difference to me. :) I say as long as she isn't crossing lines like being with animals, or children: neither who can consent in reality, then my children are more than welcome to be with whatever gender, or ethnicity they choose :)

  • Couldn't care less. Sex, race, whatever. as long as they treat him/her good.

  • As long as they are healthy and happy, they can marry whoever they want, be lifelong bachelors, or be monks! LOL

Answer by ozarkgirl3 at 6:04 PM on May. 6, 2009

  • Either would be fine by me... as long as the person treats them well and loves them!
My dh and I are a different race... so what? We've been married for eleven years with three great kids!
