5 weeks old & eating?

will a 5 week old baby over eat? can a baby eat only because they are bored? I know I eat when I am bored but will my son eat at 5 weeks cause he is bored, or is he really hungry? I know all babies are different, he was 8lbs 9oz at birth and wieghs 12lbs 7oz now, he is a big baby and 23 inches so he is tall too!

  • Babies will not over eat. Feed him what he wants when he wants. This goes for formula or breast milk. Always feed on demand.

  • my son was 8lbs 9oz at birth too. you need to measure how much he eats. get him on a feeding schedule that keeps him happy. at five weeks i was feeding my daughter ever 31/2 to 4 hours and she was eating 4-6 ounces at a time.

  • If he is over-eating, he will throw it all up. His stomache is the size of his fist.

  • Bottle fed or breastfed?

If baby is bottle fed you may want to try some "paced" bottle feeding.

If baby is breastfed, you may have an Oversupply of Milk
