Im thinking about going camping this summer, what all can we do while there?

Husband and I havent been camping for a while and when we went it was just us and no kids so we just sat back and relaxed. What are some fun things to do with a two year old while camping or any ideas would be great.

  • mmmmmmmm......S'mores are a must! Scavenger hunts are fun. You can Google and find some to print out of the Internet. Hiking might not be that great with a 2yo unless you have a good stroller. See if they have canoeing or paddleboats. Fishing might be ok if you give him/her a kid pole that you haven't actually put a hook on. Maybe they could learn to cast.

  • Take the dog and they can play. Buy a Tot trailer and take him biking. Take short hikes. Swim. Fish. Read books in the tent by flashlight. Walk and find pretty things to look at and discover. Swing in a hammock and take a nap. :)

  • I always take a bag on hiking trails and my dd picks up all kinds of rocks, sticks, flowers andsuch. Later she likes to glue them on paper or set them up on display in the middle of the table for a centerpiece.

  • on the topic of smores..i was introduced to a new concoction of my husbands. using those cast iron sandwich grill things (walmart has them for $10)...placing some preserves in two slices of bread...slapping that thing in the fire til its toasted. tastes like cobbler. we used peach and it was AWESOME! also, frisbees, bubbles and various devices to use them with (wire hangers make huge ones), sidewalk chalk, ring toss, bring a ball and let her kick it about, or just let her run wild and get dirty like a heathen! lol...we loved it growin up and im sure yours will too! have fun campin! we did 3 weeks ago, and im 8 months pregnant....cant wait to go again!
